SRH vs CSK – IPL 2022 Report: Too late Nicholas Pooran!
SRH vs CSK, Match 46 – IPL 2022 Report: Chennai Super Kings clinch an important fixture against the mighty Sunrisers to stay alive in the tournament.
MS Dhoni took over the captaincy duties once again as Ravindra Jadeja was struggling with form while leading the team. Dhoni’s CSK was put to bat and the opening combo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put on a record stand of 182 runs. This is the highest partnership ever against Sunrisers.
SRH had trouble with their bowling options as Washington Sundar left the field with injury and T Natarajan was out briefly. Williamson struggled to manage the available resources. T Natarajan returned to finish his quota and picked 2 wickets in the end.
Gaikwad fell 1 run short of a well-deserved ton while Conway scored an unbeaten 88. CSK posted 202/2 in 20 overs.
SRH began the chase in dashing fashion. Abhishek Sharma was severe on CSK bowlers but the last two balls of the powerplay did the trick for CSK. Mukesh Choudhary removed Abhishek Sharma and the in-form Rahul Tripathi in back-to-back deliveries to put a check to SRH run scoring.
Captain Williamson fell at a crucial juncture of the match and the onus was on Nicholas Pooran to deliver. The West Indian 6 sixes and 3 fours during his stay and looked like the only batter who threatened the CSK bowling attack. Pooran spanked a 33-ball 64* but it was too late as SRH fell short by 13 runs.
