RCB vs CSK, Match 49 – IPL 2022 Report: After three back to back defeats, RCB are back on winning track with a 13 run win against CSK.
Batting first RCB put 173 runs on the board – thanks to Mahipal Lomor’s 42 in 27 balls and Dinesh Karthik’s last over slog against Dwaine Pretorius.
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put on a 62 run opening stand before CSK spinners ran riot. Maheesh Theekshana picked 3 wickets while Moeen Ali who came in for Mitchell Santner picked the price wickets of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli.
Chasing 174 runs to win, CSK openers started off well. Ruturaj and Conway put on a 54-run stand before Shahbaz Ahmed struck the first blow. Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu perished soon to Glenn Maxwell’s off spin as CSK were reduced to 75/3 in 9.4 overs.
Devon Conway smacked his second consecutive half-century but soon departed in the bowling of Wanindu Hasaranga. Harshal Patel came back to deliver in the death overs as the required run rate was a notch above 10. He picked the crucial wickets of Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja to push CSK to back foot. Josh Hazlewood removed the dangerous MS Dhoni and the match was in total favour of RCB. Pretorius was the final wicket to fall as CSK could manage only 160 runs in their full quote of overs.
