PBKS vs DC, Match 64 – IPL 2022 Report: Delhi Capitals was put in to bat at DY Patil and Punjab brought in Liam Livingstone to bowl the first over of the match. Delhi Capitals went in with a new opening combination in the form of David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan. Warner who was at the non-striker’s end walked on to Sarfaraz and convinced him to change ends as Livingstone is bowling the first over. The English all-rounder removed Warner first ball as he strode forward for a drive but ended up slicing it to backward point as Rahul Chahar took an easy catch to begin the proceedings.

Mitchell Marsh and Sarfaraz Khan put on a 51-run stand in 28 balls for the second wicket. Sarfaraz smacked a 16-ball 32 with the help of 5 fours and 1 six to help DC to 50 runs in just 4.3 overs! Arshdeep removed the new Delhi opener. Mitchell Marsh continued his rich form as he recorded his second consecutive half-century of the tournament. He along with Lalit Yadav kept the run flow going till Lalit fell at the score of 98 runs – DC were reduced to 98/3 in 11 overs.

In the next 9 overs, DC could only manage 61 runs and lost 4 wickets. Liam Livingstone returned and removed the big hitters Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell reducing Delhi to 112/5 in 13.3 overs. The run flow became difficult in the middle overs and Capitals could score only 159/7 in their full quota of overs.

Punjab Kings began the chase in a dominating fashion as Jonny Bairstow was severe against the Delhi new ball pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje! Anrich Nortje’s fastest delivery of the night clocked at 152.4 kmph and removed Bairstow in the 4th over. Punjab brought up their 50 runs in just 5.3 overs with Rajapaksa’s boundary off Shardul Thakur, but Thakur removed the Sri Lankan the very next ball. 2 balls later he removed Shikhar Dhawan for 19 runs. The very next over Axar Patel bowled out Punjab skipper Mayank Agarwal for a duck reducing PBKS to 55/4 in 6.3 overs.  Soon Punjab lost the big wicket of Liam Livingstone with the score at 61 runs as Kuldeep Yadav removed him   stumped! The very next over Kuldeep bowled out Harpreet Brar reducing DC to 67/6 in 9.3 overs. Axar bowled out Rishi Dhawan and left PBKS stuttering at 82/7 in 12.4 overs in the chase.

Jitesh Sharma fought heroically with his 34-ball 44 to bring Punjab back in to the reckoning. He put on a 41-run stand with Rahul Chahar in 5 overs. Shardul Thakur returned to remove Jitesh and Rabada in a span of 3 deliveries leaving Punjab to get 29 runs in the last 2 overs to win with one wicket in hand. Punjab ended on 142/9 in 20 overs. Shardul missed out on a 5-wicket haul as David Warner who took a stunner to give Shardul his third – dropped Arshdeep!
