KKR vs RR – IPL 2022 Report: Back to winning ways!
KKR vs RR, Match 47 – IPL 2022 Report: After losing five matches in a row – KKR are back to winning ways with a satisfying win against the mighty Rajasthan Royals!
Batting first on a used surface, RR lost their opener Devdutt Padikkal (2) early. Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson put on a 48-run stand for the second wicket but Tim Southee struck for KKR to remove Jos Buttler who smacked a century last time around against the same opponent.
The pace of the innings slowed down as Sanju Samson scored a half-century. It was Shimron Hetmyer’s slog (27* in 13 balls) in the end that helped RR to propel to 152/5 in 20 overs.
KKR went in with yet another opening combo in the form of Aaron Finch and Baba Indrajith. Finch (4) departed early after edging a Kuldeep Sen delivery on the stumps. Prasidh Krishna got rid of Indrajith with in the powerplay reducing KKR to 32/2 in 5.4 overs.
Captain Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana steadied the situation with a 60-run partnership in 43 balls for the third wicket. The fall of Shreyas Iyer brought in Rinku Singh who has been exceptional on the field so far.
Nitish Rana spoilt Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling figures and Rinku Singh spoilt Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling rhythm. Both batsmen scored unbeaten 40+ scores to help their team cross the line.
Rana and Rinku put on a 66-run stand in 38 balls to take their team home. Rinku scored 42 runs in the partnership!
