GT vs PBKS- IPL 2022 Report: A failed experiment!
GT vs PBKS, Match 48 – IPL 2022 Report: Hardik Pandya’s experiment to try defending the total against the ground record backfired, as Punjab Kings dominated the night with an all-round show. In the post match presentation Hardik said they wanted to try some thing different walking in to the future matches as their play-off position looks as good as done.
Gujarat Titans stumbled when they lost both openers in the powerplay. Shubman Gill was run out – thanks to a one stump view direct hit by Rishi Dhawan. Saha looked in great touch but Rabada got the better off him after being hit for a six.
Sai Sudharsan was the only Gujarat batsman who stayed at the crease till the end. The 20-year-old scored his maiden half-century in IPL and took his team to 143/8 in 20 overs.
Chasing 144 runs to win, Punjab Kings went in with a new opening combo in the form of Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan. Shami got rid of Jonny Bairstow (1) who mistimed a pull. Walking in at 10/1, Bhanuka Rajapaksa put on a 87-run stand with Shikhar Dhawan for the second wicket in 58 balls to put Punjab Kings in a dominating position.
Shikhar Dhawan brought up his 47th IPL fifty as he was joined by Liam Livingstone. Livingstone hit Mohammed Shami for 28 runs in his final over to finish the proceedings in just 16 overs.
