DC vs LSG Match 45 – IPL 2022 Report: Lucknow Super Giants continue their merry run in TATA IPL 2022. They beat Delhi Capitals by 6 runs in a close battle at Wankhede.
Captain KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda put on a 95-run stand for the second wicket in 10.1 overs which propelled Lucknow to 195/3 in 20 overs.
Chasing 196 to win, DC lost both the openers early and were reduced to 13/2 in 3 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh orchestrated a counter attack as the team’s run rate hit 10 in no time! A twist in the tale occurred as Marsh was adjudged caught behind (73/3 in 7.1 overs). TV replays showed he had no edge. He didn’t even ask for a review and walked off. Coach Ponting didn’t seem amused to the series of events.
Rovmam Powell continued his brute force but left arm pacer Mohsin Khan returned to bowl out Rishabh Pant with a beaut of a delivery. Axar and Powell kept Delhi in the hunt but Mohsin continued to strike removing Powell and Shardul Thakur in a span of 4 deliveries. Mohsin ended with bowling figures of 4-0-16-4. His four victims were: David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and Shardul Thaur!
Kuldeep Yadav slogged in the end overs but a hip injury to Axar slowed down the run scoring. Marcus Stoinis was trusted with the final over of the match and Kuldeep dislodged him for a six first ball. 15 runs were required in last 5 balls but Stoinis came back well to defend it. Axar was on strike with 13 runs to win off the last 2 balls. He hit one straight to the log off fielder but decided not to take a single. He finished the match with a six but they fell short by 6 runs.
Lucknow now move on to second spot in the points table.
