DC vs RCB – Match 27 – IPL 2022 Report: RCB are back to winning ways with a 16 run win against Delhi Capitals.
Mitchell Marsh played his first match for Delhi Capitals while Harshal Patel returned to play for RCB.
RCB were reduced to 40-3 in 6.2 overs but Maxwell welcomed Kuldeep Yadav in to the attack by smacking him for 23 runs. The Aussie all-rounder departed after smashing a half-century as Kuldeep did seek his vengeance the very first ball of his second over reducing RCB to 92/5.
Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed tonked their way to a 97-run stand in just 52 balls. Dinesh Karthik smacked 5 fours and 5 sixes in his knock of 66* which included a 28 run over off the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman.
Chasing 190 runs to win, Delhi Capitals were off to a flier as the openers brought up their 50 in the fifth over. Mohammed Siraj struck as he removed the dangerous Prithvi Shaw while David Warner continued his onslaught. He scored his 51st IPL half-century in 29 balls.
Warner was the second wicket to fall as he was trapped LBW trying to reverse sweep Wanindu Hasaranga. The run flow slowed down as Mitchell Marsh was finding it hard to connect. His misery ended as he was run out at non-strikers end off the ball deflected by Wanindu Hasaranga in his own bowling. Marsh scored 14 runs n 24 balls.
Captain Rishabh Pant scored a quick 34 at a strike rate of 200.00 but it was Siraj who struck again to shift the advantage towards RCB. DC pushed on with all-rounders trying to slog but Josh Hazlewood’s second spell reaped him 3 wickets which shut all doors for Delhi’s win.
