Mayank Agarwal added to Team India T20I squad
Mayank Agarwal has replaced the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad in Team India T20I Squad that travelled Dharamsala to play the second and third T20Is of the series. Gaikwad has been ruled out of the remaining two matches owing to pain in his right wrist which is causing concern to his batting.
The Indian team management released a press note regarding the same.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him,” a spokesman for the Indian team had said.
Mayank Agarwal is yet to feature in any T20 Internationals for Team India. He has represented his country in 19 Tests and 5 ODI matches. He played 164 T20 matches and scored 3917 runs at an average of 26.46 powered by a strike rate of 134.51. He scored 2 centuries and 24 half-centuries in the shorter format. He plays for Punjab Kings in the IPL tournament.
“It was not difficult to send Agarwal in because it could easily a bubble-to-bubble transfer. He was in Chandigarh and he was immediately rushed,” a source told cricket website Cricbuzz.
This is the third injury rule out for Team India in the ongoing series with Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar side lined with injuries sustained during the T20I series against West Indies.
