Pakistan vs Australia: T20 WC Semis Report – Wade powers Aussies win!
Pakistan vs Australia Toss: Australia won the toss and elect to bowl
Australia entered their second T20 World Cup final by beating Pakistan by 5 wickets at Dubai. Earlier captain Aaron Finch won the crucial toss and elect to bowl. Pakistan kept their nerve and scored 176-4 in 19 overs on a wicket that hasn’t been favorable to teams batting first.
Fakhar Zaman used the Aussie pace to register his maiden T20 World Cup half century. Chasing 177 to win – Shaheen Afridi struck early to get rid of captain Finch for a golden duck.
Mitchell Marsh and David Warner kept the run flow going until Shadab Khan struck to remove Marsh and Steven Smith. The leggie picked 4 wickets – which also included the scalps of Glenn Maxwell and David Warner.
Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade helped Australia recover from the damage caused by leg spin. Stoinis and Wade kept the boundaries coming when required as they also rotated the strike around. Wade hit three back to back sixes off Shaheen Afridi who has been a thorn in Aussie flesh till that point. Australia clinched the match by 5 wickets as they defeated Pakistan in a World Cup semis for the second time!
