IPL Retention: CSK retain 4 players
Chennai Super Kings franchise has retained 4 cricketers ahead of the mega auction to take place in early 2022. The four cricketers retained by CSK are MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali featured in 34 IPL matches scoring 666 runs at an average of 22.96 powered by a prolific strike-rate of 146.37. He also picked 16 wickets at an average of 29.31 conceding just 6.84 runs per over.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the orange cap winner for the 2021 edition was a no-brainer retention as he has been the main stay of CSK results in past 2 seasons. Ruturaj also made it to Team India selection and is a player watched closely as a future talent for his country. Gaikwad scored 839 IPL runs in 22 matches for CSK with the help of 1 century and 7 half centuries. He has an impressive batting average of 46.61 powered by a decent strike rate of 132.12.
CSK stuck with their captain cool MS Dhoni for yet another time. The wicket-keeper batsmen played 220 matches in IPL cricket and has led CSK to the IPL title on four occasions. He was also a part of Rising Pune Supergiant when they featured in the finals at Hyderabad.
Ravindra Jadeja has grown in to an ace all-rounder who contributes heavily in all three departments. He featured in 200 IPL matches and scored 2386 runs at an average of 27.11, tonking at strike rate of 128.07. He also picked 127 wickets with a best of 5-16 to his name. Jadeja has grown in stature in the Indian cricket scene and his association with Chennai Super Kings is a massive boost to the franchise.
