IPL 2021 : SRH v MI Match Preview & Probable XIs
SRH v MI – HEAD TO HEAD : 17 MATCHES
SRH WON : 8, MI WON : 9
The things have gone from bad to worse for Sunrisers Hyderabad. No one could have thought that SRH would drop David Warner. They did that in their previous match to try a different overseas combination but it backfired. Chasing 221 against the Rajasthan Royals, they succumbed to a heavy defeat. They now sit at the bottom of the table with just a solitary win from seven matches.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are starting to get into their groove and these are ominous signs for all the other teams. Their middle order consisting of Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard has found its mojo back. It was their middle order which set them apart from rest of the teams last year and they would be overjoyed looking at how it won them the last match against CSK.
Rashid Khan has fought the lone battle for SRH as far as their bowling is concerned. None of the other bowlers have looked threatening and have been too expensive. Bhuvneshwar Kumar needs to step up and provide the penetration to their bowling attack. He hasn’t been at his best all this time and would look to improve his performance.
Jonny Bairstow’s batting has been one of the positives for SRH. He has provided quick fire starts at the top of the order. However, their middle order hasn’t been able to capitalize on it. Kane Williamson is there but all the other batsmen have been plain average. They need to find a solution to their middle order crisis or it might be too late for them. David Warner was dropped from the playing XI and they will always miss his presence. Is there a possibility of him returning and opening the batting? Well, there is, but SRH are likely to stick with their new strategy regarding their overseas combination.
The wicket in Delhi has been totally different to what was expected. The batsmen have enjoyed playing on it and all the matches have been high scoring. It is expected to be similar for this match and another high scoring encounter awaits us.
The last time these two clashed, MI got the better of SRH in a low scoring thriller at Chepauk. Mumbai would look to repeat that. Hyderabad are in a dire need of win but for that they need to find the perfect combination.
SRH v MI TEAM NEWS
SRH couldn’t use Mohammad Nabi’s spin to much an extent in their previous game. The off spinner only bowled a solitary over and went for 21 runs in it. They have an option of bringing in Jason Holder for him. Holder can bowl at the start as well as in the slog overs.
MI would want to continue with the winning combination. Though, they can think of playing Nathan Coulter-Nile at the expense of James Neesham.
