IPL 2021 : IPL 2021 : DC V MI Match Preview & Probable XIs
DC V MI – HEAD TO HEAD : 28 MATCHES
DC WON : 12, MI WON : 16
The finalists of the previous season of the IPL will be up against each other in what is expected to be another intriguing encounter. Both Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have won 2 out of 3 matches they have played till now. MI clearly have an edge over DC coming into the match. They defeated DC on all the 4 occasions in the previous season, including the final.
Shikhar Dhawan is batting on a whole different level. Quite evidently, he has changed his approach and doesn’t seem to be playing the waiting game anymore. He also spoke of taking more risks so as to improve his strike rate and that seems to be working fine for him. Dhawan, currently is the leading run scorer of the tournament. His opening partner, Prithvi Shaw, too has been in sizzling form but he would be wary of the Trent Boult threat. Shaw has had his struggles against Boult recently and it would be interesting to see how the opening batsman counters the moving ball.
The Mumbai Indians are getting into the groove slowly and it will only become more difficult for other teams here onwards. The famous Rohit Sharma ‘squeeze’ in the middle overs has also been on display. Teams find it most difficult to score runs against MI in the middle overs. Bowling tight lengths accompanied by some excellent field placements has been the reason for their success. Rahul Chahar has picked up seven wickets in the last two games. Keiron Pollard seems to have got his mojo back and MI would also want Hardik Pandya to step up.
MI will be playing their fourth match at the chepauk and have had fair idea of conditions there. For DC, it will be all about adjusting to the conditions at a sluggish Chepauk surface, having played all their games at the Wankhede.
Chasing has been quite difficult in Chennai. All the five games played here have been won by teams batting first. Toss yet again, could play a significant role here in Chennai.
Both the teams look more or less settled. There might not be any change in the playing XI of the Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, may bring in Amit Mishra at the expense of Lukman Meriwala, keeping in mind the surface at Chepauk.
