IPL 2021 : CSK V RR Match Preview & Probable XIs

CSK V RR – HEAD TO HEAD : 23 MATCHES

CSK WON : 14, RR WON : 9

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will take on Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals in the twelfth match of the Vivo IPL 2021. CSK won their last game against PBKS quite comfortably while RR got themselves into a tricky situation but excellent knocks from David Miller and Chris Morris ensured they got their first points of the season.

Deepak Chahar dictated the ball on his terms and ran through Punjab’s top order in the previous match claiming 4 wickets while giving away just 13 runs. This was also his best figures in the IPL. Moeen Ali’s inclusion has provided a much needed boost to this CSK side. He has been in an excellent form with both bat and ball. Coming in to bat at 3, he has played quick fire knocks and laid the foundation for the middle order to capitalize on it.

For the Rajasthan Royals, Jaydev Unadkat made his comeback into the side with terrific figures of 3/15 against the Delhi Capitals. The left-arm seamer troubled the DC batsman by bowling excellent lines and cutters. RR would expect more of such performances from him. David Miller came into the side as a replacement for injured Ben Stokes and straightaway made an impact. He made a match winning 62 off 43 balls. The most expensive buy in the IPL, Chris Morris showed his worth. He smashed 4 sixes in the last two overs and got his side over the line.

Royals have 3 left arm pacers among their ranks in Mustafizur Rahman, Jaydev Unadkat and Chetan Sakariya. CSK have a good number of hard-hitting left hand batsmen and it would be interesting to see how RR’s pacers fare against the likes of Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina and Sam Curran.

Lungi Ngidi is out of quarantine and available for selection. The wicket at Wankhede offers assistance to the pacers at the start of the innings and there might be a temptation of playing him but CSK are unlikely to tinker with the winning combination. Royals too would like to stick with the same playing XI.

It is expected to be another high scoring encounter at the Wankhede stadium. No total is safe here while defending and team winning the toss would like to field first.
