KKR vs SRH – IPL 2022 Report: Dre Russ show for the win!
KKR vs SRH, Match 61 – IPL 2022 Report: Andre Russell all-round show secured Kolkata Knight Riders their second win on the trot. This time against Sunrisers Hyderabad who annihilated KKR in the first leg.
Batting first KKR put a total 177/6 in 20 overs – Thanks to the Andre Russell slog in the end. Russell smacked 49 runs in just 28 balls with the help of 3 fours & 4 sixes – 3 of those sixes coming off the final over by Washington Sundar. Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers for SRH – he removed Ajinkya Rahane, Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer in the middle overs to leave KKR stutter at 94-5 in 11.3 overs.
Andre Russell and Sam Billings put on a 63-run stand in 7.2 overs to push KKR to a total of 177.
Chasing 178 runs to win, SRH captain Kane Williamson struggled with the bat again as he could manage just 9 runs in 17 balls which didn’t help the required run rate. Abhishek Sharma top scored for SRH with 43 off 28 balls with the help of 4 fours & 2 sixes. Aiden Markram hit 3 sixes in his 25-ball 32 but his wicket snatched hopes away from SRH fans.
Russell was brilliant with ball as he removed Williamson, Sundar and Jansen and returned bowling figures of 4-0-22-3 to spell doom. Captain Shreyas Iyer confessed it was a crucial toss and it helped them massively in executing their plans and securing a much needed win.
