KKR’s Tim Seifert and Prasidh Krishna test positive for COVID-19
KKR pacer Prasidh Krishna and wicket keeper batsman Tim Seifert is the latest to test positive for COVID-19 with moderate symptoms. The 26-year-old New Zealand cricketer tested positive in his pre-departure tests and hence won’t travel back to his country on a charter flight with the rest of IPL-based New Zealand players, support staff and commentators.
Seifert is currently in isolation in Ahmedabad. He will be in isolation for 14 days. Previously Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy of KKR tested positive for COVID-19 which led to the spiral.
As per NZ Cricket, Seifert failed both his pre-departure RT-PCR tests and is currently experiencing “moderate symptoms”.
“Once Seifert has undergone treatment and the statutory period of isolation and has tested negative for COVID-19, he will be transferred back to New Zealand where he will undergo the mandatory 14-day period of managed isolation,” the NZC statement said.
Meanwhile Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna was named on Friday in the list of 4 standby players who will travel with the 20 member Indian squad to travel England for the World Test Championship final and the series against England in August-September. In an unfortunate turn of events it was told that Prasidh tested positive on returning home in Bangalore.
Prasidh Krishna played 3 ODIs for India and shown promise in his performances and was selected to travel to England with Team India. The recent developments throw doubts on his travel plans with Team India.
