CSK v RCB: Top 5 Performers of the Match!
Chennai Super Kings clinched a 69-run win against RCB to dethrone them from No.1 spot. Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round show propelled CSK to the top of table as RCB batsmen had no answers to the spin attack.
Here are our Top 5 performers from the CSK v RCB fixture:
Faf du Plessis – 50 (41)
The Proteas batsman registered yet another half century (in 40 balls) to give CSK a solid base. He stitched a 74 run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad in 9.1 overs.
Faf scored 50 runs in 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six.
Ruturaj Gaikwad – 33 (25)
After an uncharacteristic start to the season, Ruturaj Gaikwad found his mojo with a half century against KKR and he looked in great touch against RCB too.
Gaikwad scored 33 runs in 25 balls with the help of 4 fours and 1 six.
Ravindra Jadeja – 62*(28) & 3-13
It was Jadeja day at Wankhede Stadium as the all-round created mayhem on a Sunday afternoon. Having being dropped on 0 by Dan Christian, Jadeja changed gears in no time.
The highlight of his innings was the final over bowled by Harshal Patel which got spanked for 37 runs – 6 6 6nb 6 2 6 4. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 62 in 28 balls which powered CSK to 191-4 in 20 overs. His knock had 4 fours and 5 sixes in it.
Jadeja later removed Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers and Washington Sundar. He bowled out Maxwell and AB de Villiers to spell doom for RCB. He also affected a direct hit to run out Dan Christian as RCB slumped to 83-6. Jadeja finished with bowling figures of 4-1-13-3.
His all-round show earned him a well deserved Man of the Match Award.
Devdutt Padikkal – 34 (15)
The RCB opener gave his team a smashing start as he blasted 34 runs in 15 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. It looked like RCB was in total control when he was at the crease.
His stay ended with Shardul Thakur getting his team a break through as a mistimed pull shot landed straight in to the hands of Suresh Raina at backward square leg. RCB were 54-2 in 5 overs at his exit
Imran Tahir 2-16
With Moeen Ali out of match, CSK picked Imran Tahir to make the best out of the dry wicket. Tahir delivered for CSK with the ball with match figures of 4-0-16-2.
The 42-year-old leg spinner got the wickets of Harshal Patel and Navdeep Saini. He also affected a direct hit to remove Kyle Jamieson.
